Founded on June 11, 1971 with the original name of PT Federal motors, a majority of whose shares are owned by PT Astra International. At that time, PT Federal Motor only assemble, while its components imported from Japan in the form of CKD (completely knock down). Government policy in terms of localization of automotive components encourage PT Federal Motor produces a variety of motorcycle component Hondatahun 2001 domestically through several subsidiary companies, including PT Honda Federal (1974) that produces basic components such as Honda motorcycle chassis, wheels, exhaust and so on, PT Showa Indonesia Manufacturing (1979) which specifically produces shock absorbers, PT Astra Honda Engine Manufacturing (1984) which produced motorcycle engines and PT Federal Izumi Mfg. (1990) that specifically producing piston.
